Buffett mixing some politics into his party
Robert E. Klein interviews Jimmy Buffett for The Boston Globe
Although known for his escapist tales of the tropics, Jimmy Buffett hasn't shied away from slamming the economic downturn we're in. On his new single, "Summerzcool," he sings, "What's up with this recession? I refuse to participate." And in a song he's debuting on tour, "A Lot to Drink About," he takes some shots at supreme culprit Bernie Madoff: "Now Madoff made off with all the money/ Now his clients are down to skunk weed." Another lyric talks about "getting angry in subprime city."

Here's the blog posting about the event!

FINS do Summer Jam Fund Fest
Massanutten is once again hosted Summer Jam on a hot and steamy July 3rd! We consider this a huge success for both the local SPCA and the Fins of the Valley club! FINS UP!
Hot entertainment warmed up with
Burning Bridges; then
Gary Roland and the Landsharks! brought it on with favorite Buffet tunes along with some great calypso for a huge conga-line to the tune of
"Hot, Hot, Hot" (see music sidebar at left!)
This event welcomed an estimated 3,000 people to benefit the Harrisonburg SPCA! Fins of the Valley provided varied services from check-in, ID checks, ticket sales to "The Beer Boys" to help serve up Coronas!
THE FINS booth benefited from a brisk flow of traffic buying Fins beach balls and t-shirts. The excellent booth team also signed up more than a dozen prospective new members -- as well as selling quite a few memberships right on the spot.
Photo Album: "Fins do Fund Fest" has been added by Fin Fred, who promises a VIDEO of the event to appear here soon ... so check it out!
Great time... great friends... great music and food... to benefit the SPCA an estimated $20,000! Fins WAY UP
