Here we are... in the Shenandoah Valley, in a tropical frame of mind

Sometimes we let the "Tropical Frame of Mind" make us forget who Jimmy Buffett really is -- and, that's NOT a beach bumb or sailor. Perhaps "Pirate" really is a good description!

It's like the world's biggest beach party, hosted by the world's richest beach bum.

The 15,000 fans packing the sold-out MGM Grand arena were enjoying the final concert of the season by Jimmy Buffett, the singer whose popularity and fortune grow greater even as his hair grows grayer.

Buffett, who turned 62 on Christmas Day, long ago became an icon of certain baby boomers — perhaps the least-hip demographic in the country — by offering the dream of throwing off their responsibilities for his tropical party vibe.

But in the past decade, this chronicler of Margaritaville has really cashed in on his image.

How big is Buffett?

With an estimated annual income of more than $40 million, you might mistake his portfolio for that of Warren Buffett (not a relative). And he's done it by sailing beyond most musicians' ticket, T-shirt and poster revenue stream....

Fruitcakes: we got'em

NOTE: LIQUID ASSETS

The Sleeper

1/2 oz Absolut Vodka
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
1/2 oz Margaritaville Tequila
1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Captain Morgan Rum
2 oz 7-Up
2 oz Sweet and Sour Mix

Pour all ingredients except the 7-Up into a chilled glass filled with ice cubes. Top with 7-Up and stir gently.

Tequila Zombie -

This drink is a simple and delicoius drink to try this New Year's.

1 shot Absolut Vodka
1 shot Jose Cuervo Tequila
1 splash of Creme de Menthe
1 shot Captain Morgan Rum
2 shots Grapefruit Juice
2 shots Orange Juice

Pour the alcohol in a cocktail shaker and shake. Next add the two juices and mix well. Strain over ice in a tall glass. Also, remember to use just a little Creme de Menthe, you do not need to use too much.

NOTE: FRUITCAKES
You know I was talking to my friend Desdemona the other day. She runs this space station and bake shop down near boomtown. She told me that human beings are flawed individuals. The cosmic bakers took us out of the oven a little too early -- and thats the reason were as crazy as we are.
And I believe it.
